Murder Victim Burned

A man's charred body was found through a tract road in western New Providence, authorities have confirmed.

A man’s charred body was found through a tract road in western New Providence, authorities have confirmed.His death marks the 14th homicide for the year. According to Police Press Liaison Officer Sergeant Chrislyn Skippings, police were called to a dirt road off Gladstone Road on Saturday. When they arrived, they discovered the man’s body, which was burnt beyond recognition. Police do not have a motive for this latest murder.It is unclear if the man was killed prior to being burnt, or if he was burnt alive.Police have now turned to the public for help in solving this latest homicide.Just days before this murder, 26-year-old Duran Rolle was killed during a home invasion.Police said two gunmen forced their way into the victim’s home and opened fire hitting him several times. Investigations are ongoing.In other crime news:Police are investigating two armed robberies that happened on Friday and Saturday. Shortly after 6:00 a.m. Saturday police received information of an armed robbery at Watlings Street. According to official reports, a man was on Watlings Street when two gunmen approached him and demanded cash. The culprits robbed the victim of an undetermined amount of cash, a cell phone and a boat engine.They later fled the area. It was also reported that the VIP Chinese Restaurant was robbed Friday night.Police said the Nassau Street restaurant was held up shortly before 9:00 p.m.According to reports, two masked men, both of whom were armed with handguns, entered the establishment demanding cash. The culprits robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash and fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. No one was hurt.
