Jeffrey B. Butler Sr., of Butler’s Specialty Foods and Shenanigans Irish Pub, has confirmed that the lease agreement with the owner of the building that also houses The Home Center has been signed.
This action confirms Mr. Butler’s confidence in Freeport and Grand Bahama at a time when many businesses are pulling back. Mr. Butler stated, “With the signing of the lease the final stages of the $3 million Butler’s Food World have begun”.
Bradley Scott, General Manager for the new store, states, “This will be a new shopping experience for Grand Bahamians with Fresh Meats, Fresh Produce, Fresh Bakery, Deli, Organic and Health Food Products. A full service grocery store along with all of the Gourmet Foods, from over 20 countries, that Butler's Specialty is famous for.”
The approximately 20,000 sq feet store includes: a 1400 sq foot liquor store highlighting specialty wines, spirits, and beers from around the world; a deli with a European wood burning pizza oven for take-out and take-and-bake pizza, a rotisserie chicken station, and hot and cold food service counters for complete take home meals.
Butler’s Food World will feature fresh meats including "Sterling Silver Beef", pork, lamb, veal, and poultry. Special order items will be available, such as Kobe beef, seafood and game.
Mr. Scott states, “We are committed to bringing a high quality product and service to Grand Bahama.” Butler’s Food World will hire up to 50 Grand Bahamians, extensively training each employee in Customer Service, Food Safety and Product Knowledge. A targeted opening date of July 1, 2010 has been set; however, Mr. Scott noted that “We want to ensure we exceed our customers’ expectations when we open the doors so the date is a tentative one”.
Both Mr. Butler and Mr. Scott have extensive grocery experience. Mr. Butler has owned and operated his business in Grand Bahama for over 30 years and Mr. Scott has worked in the grocery business both in the Bahamas and abroad for over 13 years which includes the last 7 years with Sam’s Clubs and Walmart Supercentres in Canada.
Both men are very excited about this new venture and are dedicated to raising the standards of the Grand Bahamian shopping experience while providing new employment opportunities to the community. As stated by Mr. Butler himself, “Butler’s Food World will be top quality, Bahamians and visitors to our beautiful island will enjoy variety and quality in a pleasing shopping environment.”
