Teenager Shot In Face

By Staff Writer

A teenage boy is in hospital nursing his wounded face after a drive by shooting in the Baillou Hill and Cowpen Road area.

According to Police Press Liaison Officer Sergeant Chrislyn Skippings, the shooting incident occurred sometime around 9:15 Friday night.

It is reported that a 17-year-old boy was walking in the mentioned area when a white Nissan Altima with two male occupants pulled up next to him.

An altercation ensued between the teen and one of the occupants of the vehicle.

One of the men in the vehicle allegedly armed with a shotgun, fired shots at the McKinney Drive teenager.

The victim was shot to the face and was taken to hospital via Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel.

Police are questioning a 45-year-old male of Cowpen Road in connection with this incident.

Investigations continue.

Another teenager was left nursing a gunshot wound over the weekend after reportedly being shot Friday evening.

Police say the incident occurred around 10:00pm on Friday in the Blue Hill Road area near the Robinson Road roundabout.

Reports are that while near a phone card booth in that area, a 19-year-old man was approached by a male allegedly armed with a handgun, who demanded cash.

The gunman then shot the teenager to his left leg while fleeing in the Yellow Elder area on foot.

It is unclear at this point whether the bandit escaped with any cash.

The teenager was taken to hospital via private vehicle, but his condition was unknown up to print time.

Police are following significant leads into the matter.
